On the afternoon of September 12 (local time of Germany), the China (Shenzhen) - Germany (Munich) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange was held in Munich, Germany. Dr. John Shachtner, Director of the Internationalization and Industry Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Bavaria, Germany, Mao Jingqiu, Chinese Consul-general in Munich, Xu Qin, Mayor of Shenzhen, and Guo Limin, Director of the Economic, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality attended the conference and delivered speeches successively. The Conference has established a face-to-face exchange platform for Chinese and Germany enterprises by introducing the economic development, trade investment and international cooperation of Shenzhen, presenting the investment environment of Shenzhen, studying and sharing the cooperation direction between Shenzhen and Germany, with around 200 Sino-German enterprises, including BYD Company Limited (president company), Hytera Communications Corporation Limited (vice president company), China International Marine Containers (Group) Ltd. (CIMC), SkyWorth (member companies), being invited to attend. The Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange was jointly sponsored by the Shenzhen Municipal People' s Government and the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Bavaria, Germany, presented by the Economic, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, the Investment Promotion Agency in Bavaria State, the State of Bavaria China Office, the Shenzhen Outbound Alliance, German Industry & Commerce, Guangzhou, and strongly supported by the Consulate General of People's Republic of China in Munich.

Xu Qin, Mayor of Shenzhen, made introductions in his speech the development of Shenzhen in recent years and put forward a vision of future cooperation with Germany. Xu Qin said that Shenzhen is an important economic center city in China. In 2015, the R&D inputs of the whole society accounted for 4.05% of GDP, and the international patent applications for PCT were 13,300, accounting for about half of that of China. Besides, seven strategic emerging industries such as biology, Internet, new energy, new materials, culture creativity, new generation information technology, and energy conservation and environmental protection account for 40% of GDP. Having the third largest container port in the world, the largest land port in Asia, and one of the five largest airports in China, Shenzhen is the largest export market in China, with a total foreign trade of USD 442.6 billion in 2015. Meanwhile, Shenzhen is also a responsible green and low-carbon city. At present, RMB 10,000 GDP energy consumption and water consumption are at the lowest level in mainland Chinese cities. In addition, Shenzhen is one of the cities with the highest number of new energy vehicles in the world. With 51,000 new energy vehicles have been popularized and applied, all the buses in Shenzhen will be electrically operated by the end of next year. When talking about the cooperation vision between Shenzhen and Germany, Xu Qin said that in recent years, Shenzhen has maintained close cooperation with cities in Germany and established friendship with cities such as Berlin, Nuremberg, Hanover and Frankfurt. In 2015, the total imports and exports of Shenzhen to Germany exceeded USD 8 billion, accounting for about 1/20 of the trade volume between China and Germany. Looking ahead, Shenzhen will work with Germany to strengthen cooperation in such key areas as advanced manufacturing industry, technological innovation, and vocational education and medical treatment.

In the following issues under discussion, Guo Limin, Director of Economic, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality introduced main features and advantages of economic development of Shenzhen as well as cooperation with Germany. Dr. Whipp•Snail, Director General of the Business Promotion Agency of the State of Bavaria depicted innovation development conditions of Bavaria. Floe • Schmitt (v.), Chairman of European Sustainable Urbanisation Association, Mr. Li Yinhui, Vice-President of China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd., Dr. Zhou Xiangqian, Chairman of the German-Chinese Alliance for Industry 4.0, Victor • Trape, Head of Market and Sales of Fraunhofer Society respectively made speeches for “China EU Future City” of Longgang District, Shenzhen, business development of China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd. in Germany, Innovation Center for Sino-Germany Micro-Nano Manufacturing Industry, development status of Fraunhofer Society, and cooperation with China sequentially.

China and Germany signed 13 cooperation projects in total at the “Signing Ceremony of Shenzhen-Germany Cooperation Project”. There was a wide range of fields, including vocational education, advanced manufacturing industry, economic and trade cooperation. Signature of these projects will effectively deepen trade and investment exchanges between Shenzhen and Germany.
n an attempt to conscientiously strengthen deep cooperation between Shenzhen and Germany, Shenzhen Municipal Government took more than 30 representative enterprises and organizations of Shenzhen to attend this meeting and make consultations and exchanges. Enterprises from China and Germany held lively exchanges and deep discussion on future economic and trade cooperation modes in the last free docking discussion link of this meeting.

Holding of the Exchanging Meeting promotes mutual understanding between Shenzhen and Bavaria, provides a good exchange and docking platform between governments of Shenzhen and Germany and friendly cooperation of enterprises, lays a firm foundation for cooperation for “made in China 2025” and “Germany Industry 4.0” in the future. With deep international cooperation, Shenzhen and Germany will develop a cooperation relation for deep industry export, investment and trade and scientific and technological innovation.
