On the afternoon of May 31, Roundtable Meeting of Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cooperation in the “Belt and Road” was jointly hosted by the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Futian District. Li Danmei, Deputy Director of the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, Dr. Jonathan Koon-shum Choi, Standing Committee Member, National Committee, CPPCC, PRC and Co-Chair of “the Belt & Road Industrial and Commercial Alliance”, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Wang Shi, Founder of Vanke Group, Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vanke, and Chairman of the Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation, and other important guests attended the Meeting.Sun Tianlu, Executive Chairman of SOA was invited, too.

The Meeting included three major issues: smart city and infrastructure investment, expansion of the “Belt and Road” market and manufacturing investment, and joint construction of the “Belt and Road” service alliance. Li Danmei gave a welcome speech at the Meeting. Wang Shi served as the Chairman of the Shenzhen side and Dr. Jonathan Koon-shum Choi, the Chairman of the Hong Kong side. Elites from varied industries shared their stories of success and development experience in the construction of the Belt and Road, they also actively offered suggestions for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Sun Tianlu, Executive Chairman of SOA was invited to speak at the Meeting to share the difficulties encountered by enterprises of SOA in the process of “Going Global” and ways of expanding their businesses globally.

During the Meeting, Chairman Sun accepted the interview by a program named “Deng Lu’s Time” of Guangdong TV and had a pleasant conversation with the hostess Deng Lu, Sun talked about the cooperation opportunities brought about by the “Belt and Road” cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and those by the development of the GBA. Chairman Sun mentioned that since the establishment of SOA two years ago, it has been dedicated to reinforce overseas policy communication and improve constantly the overseas trade. It has arranged several meetings with UN’s top officials, organized Shenzhen enterprises to participate in international exhibitions and actively set up Shenzhen Overseas Chamber of Commerce. Meanwhile, Sun pointed out that SOA is committed to strengthening the construction of financial service platform in various aspects, and has cooperated with great professional institutions such as Big Four (collectively referred to EDPK, including EY, Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG) and Alston & Bird Law Firm to organize professional training and point-to-point services to improve the level of corporate compliance management. At present, SOA has planned to establish brand display centers and liaison offices in the countries along with the Belt and Road like Thailand, Malaysia and Ethiopia to speed up the pace of “Going Global”.
