SOA Representatives Participated in the 9th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum in Macao
Guided by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the 9th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) was co-hosted by the China Association of Foreign Contractors and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (MTIPI) in Macao during June 7th to 8th, 2018. The Shenzhen delegation participated in the Forum, which was led by Yang Xiuyou, Deputy Secretary General of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, and consisted of Gao Zhan, a leader of the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, Qiu Xiaonan, Deputy Director of Department of Foreign Relations and Cooperation, and Zhou Gang, Vice Secretary General of Shenzhen Outbound Alliance (SOA). Led by the delegation, Shenzhen foreign contracted engineering enterprises also participated in the Forum, which established a cooperation platform for Shenzhen enterprises to participate in international infrastructure investment and construction.
The Forum was a grant event, held in the context of major changes in the global political, economic and social environment, as well as under the background of increasing opportunities and challenges of the industrial development. It was informative, pragmatic and efficient, and fruitful, which met Shenzhen delegation’s expectation of obtaining information, discovering opportunities and promoting cooperation.
During the event, Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality set up a booth to showcase the achievements of Shenzhen's foreign economic and trade development and foreign contracted engineering enterprises to the leaders of the national ministries and commissions, other regional governmental departments as well as enterprises from all over the world.
Among them, Huawei, China Hua Shi, China Construction Steel Corporation, Bauing Group, Ruzi Niu Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., Jianyi Group and many other Shenzhen foreign contracted engineering enterprises participated in the Forum, and won the recognition of Gao Yan, Deputy Minister of Commerce, Fang Qiuchen, Chairman of China International Contractors Association, as well as enterprises of various countries.
Among various activities of this Forum, Gao Zhan, Leader of Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, as the sole government representative except for those of Hong Kong and Macao, has participated in the “the Development of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” parallel forum, and gave his keynote speech centering around the theme of “Facilitating the Development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Building up Brand New Open Environment” and the topic of “How Shenzhen will take its own advantages in the context of the “Belt and Road” Initiative with the concept of ‘Co-negotiation, Co-construction, Co-sharing’ to promote the prosperity of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area".
By the end of 2017, Shenzhen foreign contracted engineering enterprises have provided contracted engineering services in 137 countries and regions around the world, with an accumulated turnover of USD139.768 billion from foreign contracted projects, ranking first in the country's large-and-medium-sized cities. Under the current situation of coexistence of opportunities and challenges, the requirements of the international market for the integration and combination of international resources for contracted engineering enterprises in Shenzhen are constantly increasing.
By virtue of this Forum, Yang Xiuyou, Deputy Secretary General of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, met with Yu Xiaohong, Vice Chairman of the China International Contractors Association and held talks on how to assist Shenzhen enterprises to obtain information and explore cooperation on innovative financing methods, enterprise transformation and upgrading, development in key areas and emerging markets. Eventually, they reached preliminary cooperation intentions.
