On November 6, 2018, the 2018 China (Guangdong) - Europe Investment Cooperation Conference & Germany Enterprises Invest in Guangdong Promotion Event was successfully held at Wuzhou Guest House Shenzhen. The Event was co-organized by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and the The Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry and undertaken by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee (CCPIT Guangdong Committee). The Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality served as Executive Unit and the Shenzhen Outbound Alliance (SOA) served as Supporting Unit.

Attending the Event were Chen Yuehua, Deputy Director General of Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, Li Danmei, Deputy Director of Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, Norton Herrick, Chairman and Founder of The Herrick Company, Zhang Liang, President of Guangdong Hengjian Emerging Industries Fund Management Co., Ltd, Zhang Dazhao, Assistant to the President, Shenzhen Silver Basis Technology, Wang Dawei, Head of Modern Business Development Research Center (MBDRC) and more than 300 business representatives of Chinese and German enterprises. The Conference was presided by Zhou Gang, Deputy Secretary General of SOA. Sun Tianlu, Executive Chairman, Zhai Haibin, Deputy Secretary General and Maijia, Senior Manager of the Department of International Affairs from SOA also attended the Conference.

In order to strength exchange and synergy of Guangdong and European enterprises in technology and trade, promoting economic and trade cooperation between the two regions, the Event was held to provide opportunities on an one-on-one basis for enterprises from both sides to explore cooperation in technology and trade. Meanwhile, a platform was forged to extend collaboration in investment and financing for enterprises and investment organizations.

Further to Director Chen’s speech, Li Danmei, Deputy Director of Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, delivered a speech. She pointed out that the development of the “Belt and Road” and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has created immense opportunities and a greater space for Shenzhen and Europe to extend cooperation. Shenzhen welcomes enterprises from around the globe, especially Europe, to take an active part in forging better complementarity of strengths and achieving win-win outcomes.

At the one-on-one discussion section, more than 100 Guangdong enterprises including BGI, HAN'S LASER, INVT, FIYTA Watches had insightful discussions about technology, trade and investment with more than 80 European companies including TÜV Rheinland Group, Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, Lufthansa and other delegations from Germany, Latvia, Czech and other countries.

The success of this Event built a platform for communication and synergy for enterprises from Guangdong and Europe, strengthened the cooperation in technology and trade between the two sides, promoted economic and trade exchange.
